    Ingrown Toenail Surgery

Chair-side nail surgery under local anaesthetic - permanent solution from £495. Same-day appointments available.

    Don't delay treatment

An untreated ingrown toenail can become seriously infected and may require antibiotics or hospital treatment. If you are in pain or notice signs of infection, call us for a same-day appointment.

    What's Included

All nail surgery at Grays Foot Clinic is performed by Michael Keet - a foot surgeon with over 40 years of surgical experience and thousands of successful PNA procedures. Procedures are performed chair-side in our Holborn clinic, with no hospital referral required. We use sterile, clinical-grade equipment and provide a full aftercare kit so you can heal safely at home.

    Symptoms to Look For

You may benefit from nail surgery if you are experiencing any of the following:

Pain or tenderness along one or both sides of the nail
Redness and swelling around the nail edge
    Pus or discharge suggesting infection
Skin growing over or around the nail
Recurring ingrown toenail that keeps coming back

    Understanding Your Options

    Spicule Removal

    £175
    + dressing fee £55

This is a non-surgical procedure for early-stage ingrown toenails where a sharp spike (spicule) of nail is piercing the skin. No anaesthetic is required. The offending spike is removed precisely, bringing immediate relief. A sterile dressing is applied and the healing process begins the same day.

    Partial Nail Avulsion (PNA)

    £495
    one side

For recurring or more severe ingrown toenails, PNA is the gold-standard permanent solution. The edge of the nail is removed under local anaesthetic, and a chemical (phenol) is applied to the nail matrix to permanently prevent that section of nail from regrowing. The success rate is approximately 95%.

Most patients are back in normal footwear within 2 to 4 weeks and the nail heals to look completely natural.

    What to Expect

    01

    Consultation

Your podiatrist will examine the nail, discuss the severity, and recommend the most appropriate procedure. You will have the opportunity to ask any questions.

    02

    Anaesthetic (PNA only)

Local anaesthetic is injected at the base of the toe. This takes around 5 minutes to work and ensures the procedure is completely painless.

    03

    Nail Removal

The ingrown section of nail is carefully removed. For PNA, phenol is applied to prevent regrowth. The entire procedure takes 20 to 30 minutes.

    04

    Dressing & Aftercare

A sterile dressing is applied and you receive a full aftercare kit to take home. We will explain how to redress the toe and what to expect during healing.
